Abstract

The premise behind this work programme is that road fatalities are preventable, but only if their circumstances are correctly described and understood, so that appropriate remedial action can be taken. The purpose of this project was to develop a methodology to improve the timeliness of the collection and analysis of pertinent data relating to fatal road casualties. Part of the evidence base behind the findings included a pilot study which collated additional information from six police forces in the South East of England.
