Abstract

Studies of driver fatigue are briefly reviewed and a simple auditory reaction time, measured in continuous driving tasks, which are used as an indirect measure of driving performance and as a tool for investigating accidents caused by the driver falling asleep at the wheel, is mentioned. The effects of age and driving experience on reaction time are examined and the results obtained are briefly outlined.
