Abstract

Current frequency of field accident injury of the lower extremity in relation to other body injury and to the distribution within the lower extremity are reviewed. Mechanics of femoral fracture and tolerance information from cadaver tests are reviewed with particular emphasis on their relationship to current safety standards and methods for evaluating car occupant protection.
