Abstract

Analysis of a representative at-the-scene sample, and also a retrospective study of serious injury accidents, is used to establish the pattern of damage configuration in injury producing accidents. Suggestions for improving frontal impact testing are made, and an important conclusion is that the ¼ overlap offset barrier test should be adopted.
