Field investigations of the injury protection offered by some "energy absorbing" steering systems.

Abstract

A field study of accidents involving vehicles fitted with three designs of "energy absorbing" steering systems is reported. The three designs are described. Laboratory testing has indicated that damage to steering systems produced under some testing conditions specified is completely different from that observed in the field.
