Abstract
Summary of the various prognoses on the development of car ownership in the Netherlands. The author states that both car and bicycle usage have increased, while the use of mopeds and public transport has decreased. Data on accidents show the relatively unsafe position of bicyclists and moped riders. Discussions on the role of the car in the transport system will have a continuous character.
