Abstract

The visibility of cyclists in twilight and darkness is mainly determined by the lighting and the reflectors used. It is doubtful however if the legal rules are obeyed adequately. Measurements have been done and it is shown that almost all bicycle have a red reflector on the rear and reflectors in the pedals, but cyclists do switch on their headlamps too late, or not at all.
