Abstract

The Dutch Minister of Transport decided in early 2006 to introduce practice measures to ease congestion, to reduce traffic jams and to remove bottlenecks on the national road system. Government officials have been given the task to find realistic and workable solutions to obtain concrete results on the ground within two years. The project File Proof has been set up to plan and to coordinate the efforts. A number of measures has been proposed and discussed with stakeholders. The paper gives a brief description of the different measures that have been proposed. Several have been implemented and other are under development at present.
