Abstract

The overall objective of RANKERS is to develop new comprehensive, scientific — based and practical guidelines or recommendations for road infrastructure safety to enable optimal cost — effective decisions by road authorities in their efforts to promote sustainable safer roads and eradicate dangerous road sections. The objective of this report is to compile and summarize the main activities and results of the RANKERS project once that all technical activities are finished. It allows those experts not familiar with the project to get introduced in the achieved results. Nevertheless, more detailed information about the different technical activities of the project is available in different reports that can be found in the project web site (http://www.rankers-project.com/). The RANKERS project, co — funded by the European Commission through the 6th Framework Programme, has developed its activities from February 2005 until January 2008.
