Abstract

The paper summarizes research into the merits of the vehicle ratings arising from the applications of the new car assessment program (NCAP). It evaluates the choice of a rating method using global statistical approaches, investigations of some real accidents and comparative tests with human subjects. The latter are described in detail (choice of vehicles, test procedure, level of injury).
