Abstract

In The Netherlands a demonstration and test of the Floating Car Data concept has taken place mid 1998 to investigate the value of FCD for the collection of traffic information from the primary and the secondary road networks. This is done as a preparation for the introduction of FCD in The Netherlands. The concept and history of FCD are briefly described. Focus of the paper are the results of the demonstration activities. These results relate to the organisational aspects, the commercial aspects, the aspects of policies of the authorities, as well as to the technical aspects. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
