Abstract

This paper describes the Chinese ATIS project For Beijing 2008 Olympic Games based on Floating Vehicle Data (FVD) Collection. Firstly, the background of the ATIS and the FVD, including the improvement of the theory and method is introduced. Upgrading of ATIS user services such as Onboard Equipment are presented, using uplink wireless communications like CDMA 1X. The paper focuses on the Navigation Positioning Services based on GNSS, including GPS and BeiDou Satellite Navigation Positioning System. It also sets out to demonstrate how to use Floating Vehicle Data which is being utilized to monitor real time and historic traffic levels on both urban and inter urban networks, and how network operators are able to deliver enhanced information and improve communications with drivers as well as providing an opportunity to generate additional revenues from value added applications such as CDMA 1X or DAB that utilized consistent data. Finally, this paper introduces the development of the whole system to date. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
