Abstract

It is proposed that pedestrian crossings which require supplementary lighting be floodlight from the direction of the oncoming traffic, so that motorists ease the pedestrians illuminattid directly. Glare can be avoided by use using a light beam of sharp out-off, and bij shielding the primary light source. An experimental installation has proven very effective, even under adverse weather conditions Crossing on a 60 ft. wide two way street can be lit acceptably using two 500 w. lamps.
