Abstract

Simultaneous optimization methods for offsets, splits, and cycle time of traffic signals are discussed. A computer program for calculating optimal signal timing is presented, and the evaluation of queuing and lane-changing patterns in a multilane traffic flow process is described. The regularity of some detector-observed arterial traffic volume characteristics is presented.
