Abstract

The first fog warning equipment on Virginia's state highway system will be installed at two locations Interstate 64 in 1971. One installation involves a sophisticated sensing device to be connected to new notable message signs on Afton Mountain. The other involves a manually operated fog warning sign that will be installed with an ice-sensing system on a bridge. The system and the applied devices are described.
