Abstract

North Carolina has adopted a statewide program of Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic Schools (ADETS) intended for first time convictees of DWI and careless and reckless driving after drinking. The results of the program show a.o. a reduced likelihood of DWI recidivism over similar offenders not sentenced to ADETS.
