Abstract

This paper describes the mode choice analysis undertaken for the long Distance Travel Model. It uses data obtained in choice-based surveys and makes extensive use of market segmentation to partition travellers whose choice of mode is constrained from those who can legitimately be entered in formal (logit) models. The results are currently being applied to obtain forecast of travel on the proposed Zuiderzeelijn.
