Abstract

This article describes a technique for estimating traffic on a regional highway network without resorting to a region wide origin-destination survey. Models for trip generation and distribution phases of the traffic estimation procedures were synthesized for a four-country region in North Carolina, after which the results were compared with actual traffic volumes.
