A mapping of ownership and use of moped has been done n order to describe the risks to which moped-ridersare exposed. In 1975-1976 10% of the Danish population of 15 years or older were active moped-riders with a total annual driving of approximately 1.1 billion kilometres. The probability of moped-riders becoming involved in a traffic accident registered by the police was 4 times higher than for cyclists, and 14 time higher than for motorists. The risk was especially high for the older moped-riders, and the risk seemed to be highest in the capital.higher than for motorists.
