Abstract

The concept of a four-day work week is reviewed after which the potential impacts of total travel, peak period and safety are discussed. A freeway bottleneck and a major activity center were examined as case study. Application of the 4-day reduced both the duration of the time when demand exceeds capacity of the freeway bottleneck and the number of vehicles excess demands over capacity.
