Abstract

This article describes the fracture of the thyroid cartilage resulting from a motorcycle accident in which the motorcyclist, wearing a full face integral crash helmet, sustained the above injury due to a blow to the back of the head. A case report gives details of the patient's injuries and hospital treatment, and possible improvements in the design of full face helmets are considered in the discussion.
