Abstract

Summaries of lectures of a congress on road safety. The following subjects are treated: - Safety in traffic accidents by technical measures - Efficiency of and protection by safety belts and safety seats - The problem of injuries which could have been avoided when cars were equipped with the regulation safety measures - The value of medical injury examination for the reconstruction of the accident course. These data can contribute to the improvement on car designs. - Tyre testing on the road and in the laboratory. Especially the riding stability is tested. - Investigations into accidents on intersections - The role of the automobile industry, other scientist and the government in road safety. - Various types of guardrails, their design and construction. - Safety on railroad grade crossings. - The influence of speed limits. - Methods for comparative accident investigations. - The relationship between riskfull behaviour and collisions on expressways.
