Abstract

This report examines road access management, and provides a basis for discussion towards strategies and policies designed to improve the effective operation and safety of the road network. The report documents the purpose and origins of the project, and material comprised for inclusion in access management guidelines, put forward as a proposal for discussion. The framework covers required tools, best practice and basics of access management, principles of access categories, putting the principles into action, and sources of further information. Topics for further research or clarification are also proposed. (Author/publisher)
