Abstract

In 2005, the government of Jiangsu Province started the research program of Highway Traveler Information System (HTIS), with the objective to provide guidelines for Jiangsu Provincial HTIS implementation, led by Jiangsu Provincial Communications Department. As part of the research program, this paper focuses on framework design of Jiangsu Provincial HTIS. This paper introduced the physical framework of Jiangsu Provincial HTIS which is composed of Traveler Subsystems, Center Subsystems, Vehicle Subsystems and Roadside Subsystems. Based on the status of management mechanism of Jiangsu Province, this paper defined the laid network framework of Jiangsu Provincial HTIS of freeway network and normal highway network respectively, and discussed the major function of each logical layer. This framework established the foundation for further developing Jiangsu Provincial HTIS. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
