Abstract

The aim of the research is the establishment of a model for free spot speeds of light vehicles as a function of the geometrical characteristics of the road. Means, standard- deviation and percentiles were analysed by the mean of step by step multi- linear regression, .Simple models are proposed, relating spot speed to significant factors (horizontal radius, gradient, cross- section, visibility distance) and some more general aspects concerning the use of speed concepts in road design.
