Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2047 includes 12 papers that explore the capacity and performance implications of ramp closure, traffic diversion rates due to changeable message sign messages, safety service patrol programs return on investment, ramp metering policies, variable speed limit effect on traffic flow, and intelligent transportation system impact on queue discharge flow variability. This issue of the TRR also examines characteristics of freeway incidents, estimating changes in toll plaza delays, estimating vehicle queue length at metered on-ramps, ramp closure for incident management, estimating time-dependent origin-destination demands with different data coverage, and a microscopic toll plaza and toll road corridor model.
