Abstract

This paper describes the French perspective on the deployment of new telematics services. A partnership is required between public authorities and industrial and private operators to provide the value-added services which will improve the journey experience for users. Private partners specified their requirement of a definite French policy as opposed to a European one. Setting up new projects is based on two steps, technical experimentation and demonstration pilot sites. Data collection on real traffic conditions is needed to set up traffic management systems. The French applications deployment strategy for intelligent transport is part of the European Union policy.
