Abstract
The Association Peugeot-Renault has explored several paths, technological as well as theoretical, regarding deployable methods of restraint. The first work was carried out using various kinds of American-made devices. At the same time the Association is actively participating in the development of French devices. The present stage of these technological solutions is explained, the performances obtained are analyzed and comparisons are made of the latter with those obtained using seat belts.
