Abstract

A series of experimental observations on speed recording of two separated vehicles in one lane of a multiple lane freeway are analyzed using spectral analysis techniques. In particular, the dynamical response characteristics of a single lane of traffic are studied by using the speed history of nth position vehicles as the output signal. Throughout this work it is assumed that the traffic platoon can be approximated by a liner-constant parameter system.
