Abstract

Satisfactory tyre friction is an indispensable condition for safe road traffic and for safe aircraft ground operation. Differences between aircraft tyres and car tyres are discussed. Special attention is paid to the aquaplaning phenomena. Different methods to measure runway and road friction are discussed. The possibility to standardize a friction test method for runways and roads is discussed,
