Abstract

The relationship between road geometry, and fuel consumption at roundabouts has been examined from data collected using an instrumented car. Measurements have been made at roundabout sites under light traffic conditions and in queueing situations during peak hours. The results have been analysed using linear regression methods to produce simple equations for estimating fuel consumption caused by roundabout geometry and the consumption in queues controlled by a priority system.
