Abstract

This paper describes a machine vision system which uses a custom designed video camera. It has been developed to improve the reliability of a vehicle designed for automatic cruise control. The lane recognition algorithm is based on the template matching method. Details of the algorithm, the system configuration, and the lane tracking control strategy are presented.
