Abstract

The main purpose of this report is to review the development of functions and skills which children need to fulfil their task as pedestrians in a safe way. On the basis of previous research on task analysis of the pedestrian a list of possible needed functions and skills was composed. For each of these skills a literature study was made to find whether research had been carried out. There was too little to justify conclusions regarding the aims for traffic education. Some conclusions are drawn however, but only for a small number of parts of the task of the pedestrian. Suggestions for further research are presented.
