Abstract

In this paper, some fundamental aspects for the speed distributions of a traffic flow are discussed. Especially in consideration of the speed fluctuation for a moving vehicle, mathematical characteristics of time and space distributions are studied. As the results of this study it should be recognized that the concept of space distributions generally is more important than that of time distributions to develop the theory of traffic flow.
