Abstract

In 1982 the procedure proposed by the European Experimental Vehicles Committee (EEVC) for the evaluation of protection in side impact was presented at the 9th ESV conference (see IRRD 802858). Further tests have since been carried out, utilizing a crabbed barrier, at 54 km/h. No important differences were found between EEVC procedure tests and crabbed barrier tests. Further developments and testing of the EUROSID dummy have been carried out. Prototypes have been extensively tested by five european Laboratories, (see IRRD 806845). The conclusion from the work is that most of the parameters defining the procedure can be confirmed.
