Abstract

The achievement of safe and efficient longitudinal control is probably the most significant technical problem associated with individual automated- vehicle, transport systems such as PRT, dual mode, and the automatic highway. Recent advances, pertaining to the design, development and testing of these facets are described in the context of achieving safe and efficient operations under short time-headway conditions.
