Abstract

Some criticisms of recent Australian comprehensive transportation studies and proposals resulting therefrom are described. Possible counters to these and an outline of the likely further development of urban transport planning are then given. It is envisaged that in future there will be: more deliberate use of 'synthesis', more extensive study of land use plans, as well as trends, and wider analysis of alternative transport policies and systems.
