Abstract

Economists advice on road financing is reviewed. The current state of the act distinguishes three principal interrelated sets of arguments, concerning 1) optimum pricing efficiently to ration roadspace, 2) efficiency in road production and 3) cost benefit analysis to quick road investment. The extent to which the road funding system of most countries follow the advice is considered. The case for particular reorganization to meet future financing needs is argued.
