Abstract

From the authors point of view there appears to be no short to medium term difficulty in maintaining an oil industry which is capable of sustaining the world's increasing demand for energy. Even with the use of relatively conservative figures for oil availability and a rate for increasing demand, there are still at least two generations available during which the necessary research and development on alternatives can be undertaken.
