Abstract

Interest in fuzzy sets has led to the development of a well-organised theory based on a number of precisely defined and easily understood concepts. Fuzzy sets appear to play an essential role in human cognition, especially in relation to concept formation, pattern classification, and logical reasoning. Fuzzy sets will have a substantial impact on scientific methodology.
