Abstract
If sports fields ore situated too closely to public roads, the illumination can cause much hindrance for the road users. It is shown how the permissible light intensity of the lighting luminaries can be determined, if a certain decrease of the visibility is still permissible. The physiological glare of some stadiums is calculated. The permissible levels of luminance vary; in most cases the light intensity of the luminaries for sport stadiums must be below 60.000 candelas.
