Abstract

This report describes observations and measurements made at sites where a gas-fired heater, attached to a paving machine, was used to heat the adjacent cold wearing-course material so that, without cutting back and "painting", a sound waterproof joint would result. Further measurements were made under laboratory conditions to assess the effectiveness of this heater.
