Abstract

Transport Demand Management (TDM) - a new approach to reduce car use - has recently been introduced in The Netherlands. TDM is aimed at business, the intention being to reduce car use by generating less business car travel. From the methodological point of view, a panel approach is the best way of evaluating TDM. This involves asking a panel of travellers before the introduction of TDM about their mode of transport to and from work, and repeating the exercise after its introduction. The study also reviews some evaluations of TDM.
