Abstract

Traditional travel demand models are aggregate models in which the dependent variable is a group of observations, whereas in a disaggregate model it represents a single observation. Many of the problems associated with aggregate models can be avoided through the use of disaggregate models, but there is no certainty that all the relationships given in a disaggregate model are either causal or behavioural. The multinominal logit model is the most widely used form of disaggregate models.
