Abstract

The avoidance of unnecessary stopping gives the greatest energy conservation; in bad traffic flows in urban areas the fuel consumption increases twice, just as in queue traffic. The removal of bottlenecks and the installation of green waves must have first priority. Furthermore the equal adoptive and provisional driving aptitude of the car or lorry driver can save energy by another 10% or more.
