Abstract
A major shopping street and radial artery in the town of Leiden was planned to be closed for through traffic except for buses and slow traffic. Shopkeepers took legal action and prevented this experimental closure. Therefore the before-study could not compared with an after-study. Nevertheless the method and results of the former are reported in this article. Traffic noise and vibration were recorded together with video data. Inhabitants were interviewed and the article deals extensively with the results.
