General guidelines for planning urban traffic networks.

Abstract

The aim of these guidelines is to improve the urban traffic network so that 1. the road network is designed to create better conditions for public transport, pedestrians and cycle traffic while taking into account the needs of the disabled, 2. the development of road network and surroundings are better matched to one another in order to limit traffic disturbance, 3. the road network in areas of development may be better designed with opportunities of taking road safety and other qualities into account and 4. local authorities can more easily make individual decisions on priorities and resources.
