Abstract

A digital computer simulation program is developed for a traffic flow simulation model with sufficient reliability so that it may be used by highway engineers as a tool for investigating, evaluating, and solving expressway design problems. It has been demonstrated that this model can, within acceptable statistical limits, duplicate the important stream characteristics that indicate the level of service and operational characteristics of a geometric design.
