Abstract

In 1991, the Economic and Social Committee of the Ile-de-France Region worked out a series of proposals in order to facilitate travelling for disabled persons in the region, thus favouring their integration into the life of society. These proposals concern a general travel plan on the accessibility of the main public transport networks, joint organization of specialized transport systems and accompanying services in public transport. They also concern the implementation, at regional level, of an integrated network and an information and orientation service. These proposals, after an official recommendation from the E.S.C., were sent to the Regional Council and the Regional Prefect. They should be incorporated into the "strategic travelplan" that the Parisian Transport Authority is now drawing up.
