Abstract

The,linear theory of single-lane traffic flow is generalizedby using an integral transform technique well-known in otherbranches of applied science. This technique introduces theidea of a memory funetion that describes the way in whicha driver proresses the information he receives from a leadvehicle. Several analytical examples are computed and theeariier linear model is discuseed as a special case of themore general theory.
